Know nothing of him, but he has good size. I think it's too conservative for the Pens needs, he might not pan out and they wasted a piece.
If Harrington and Pouliott are as good as everyone here says they are, I would go bigger. Pens have 58 locked up for a long time, most likely will resign Ehroff, 3 cheap for a few more years, Despress is playing pretty well, that gives a spot to either Harrington or Pouliott. I would consider moving 1 for a more established younger F that has proven that he can contribute right now. Not a safe play for someone that might help. Kunitz will be dead weight by the end of the season. |

Once again, it's a misnomer that the Penguins are somehow different from other teams in the league because they have defensive prospects. That's just not true, the vast majority of teams have defensive prospects equaling or surpassing those of the Penguins. The difference with the Penguins is that defensive prospects (+ Jarry) is about all they have.
The Ducks have drafted Theodore, Petterssen and Montour over the past two drafts.
They don't need Dumoulin.
But it is a different strategy. Bring in other teams' likely busts like Etem en masse and maybe one or two of them will show something worthwhile.

Emerson is bff with Beau... they grew up together in cali... them on a line would be good together... can we send spaling for etem?
But I agree as much as I would like etem. I would want them to try to get kane eberle or yak first amd have etem and rattie be 2nd option...

Peg, is a borderline playoff team. I cant see them moving Kane anymore. If so, they need to tank and it would be a 1st, pouliott, and a solid roster player, maybe Maata.
Besides I think you can get someone who can score about as many and cost 1/2 price.
Yak would be a similar return.
Wasnt Tangradi a prospect that looked good on paper, but couldnt even crack Peg's lineup? |

I have been talking this guy up ever since he was drafted. We could have had him but chose Bennett instead. This guy can light the lamp and is a great skater. Would fit in nicely with Pittsburgh. Get this guy NOW before he really becomes a player. Do it now and don't hesitate. |

The 3 guys you mentioned are all 3-4 years away. 2 playing in juniors and 1 in Europe. Dumoulin could step in right now and play for the Ducks. |

I've been pushing for Etem or Smith-Pell since last spring. I definitely agree with this RW proposal.
I thing this is the kind of deal we could use Martin for should the Pens deem him expendable.
I think P Mart as a rental to the Ducks for Etem would be something plausible. I don't think the Ducks would move him for younger D-prospects. They have enough forwards. They IMO have a need for one more veteran D-man to get them over the hump. If I'm them, I'd do this deal too.
Something like Etem + 2nd round pick for P Mart. |

I literally brought his name up on the last blog right before this was posted.
Etem is another guy that could be had in a depth move. It doesn't reduce the current active roster of either team and has good uside for both teams. Etem to me could be an effective left wing in many different roles.
Adding players like this builds that type of depth you need to win cups and to trade from an area of supreme depth, that is just a win win. |

I mentioned them because they've already got Lindholm (20) and Mat Clark (24) playing as young defensemen.
Point remains, Ducks have no use for Dumoulin.

Wow would that suck. Just an awful trade that would make the Penguins infinitely worse. |

I would hope PM would land a bit of a bigger fish than Etem. Pens need depth, make it happen. Then use PM, 1st for something bigger. |

His return to the game suggests that it was a knee sprain. Can be played through the night of, but once it swells up it could keep him out a week or two. |

Sutter or Martin would be an overpayment for Etem IMO. Maybe Goc or Spalling and a small kicker. Looks like Anaheim needs 3c and maybe a top 4 D. Could see them being interested in Martin but I'd want one of the other youngsters for him. |

has to be at least a minor sprain, Id say he will be down between 2-4 weeks, either high ankle or mcl would be my guess..
could martin, pouliot/harrington, and a first fetch a top line winger off someones team? couture, pavelski( I know hes a C, wait I think hes a center), ladd, JVR, I dont know if its worth it to us but that is at elast where its going to have to start if we want a top line winger...even if you swap martin out for sutter that is giving up a lot for one player... |

Didn't Etem just get demoted by the Ducks? Why in the world would we want a guy that isn't good enough to crack the line up of a team that isn't as good as ours?

Maybe not all those guys on the list but should be able to get a pretty good winger for that package. |
